Changelog

What we changed and when. We refresh the dataset quarterly, with a critical refresh before January 1 each year — when many states implement new fees on the calendar-year boundary.
  1. All 50 states + DC

Initial 51-jurisdiction dataset published. Every figure verified against a state DMV/DOT, Department of Revenue, legislature page, or the U.S. DOE Alternative Fuels Data Center. Rhode Island, Wyoming, Connecticut, and Michigan flagged as secondary pending direct agency confirmation.

  2. Kansas

    Recorded the Jan 1, 2026 increase to $165 BEV / $100 PHEV (HB 2122), correcting tables that still showed the pre-2026 $100 / $50.

  3. Florida

Confirmed Florida has NO enacted EV surcharge under the 2025 statute, correcting widely-circulated secondary tables that list a $200 Florida fee.

See the current figures on the states page and the upcoming changes we are tracking on the 2026–2027 changes page.
